Port Townsend Bay Closed Due to Marine Biotoxins

Port Townsend – Shellfish samples from Fort Flagler State Park have been found to contain elevated levels of marine biotoxins that cause Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP). As a result, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has closed Port Townsend Bay, including Fort Flagler and the Port Hadlock area, for recreational shellfish harvest.

Back to School Immunizations Clinics Available

Jefferson County - It’s time for back-to-school immunizations. To ensure your child is caught up with required vaccinations for school or daycare entry, please visit your medical provider or Jefferson County Public Health. To schedule an appointment for immunizations, call your medical provider.   Jefferson County Public Health has walk-in immunization clinics every Tuesday and Thursday between 1 and 4 pm at 615 Sheridan Street, Port Townsend.. All immunizations required for school are available to children up to age 19 at no cost for the vaccine through the state's Childhood Vaccine Program

Public Open House: Quilcene-Dabob Bay Water Quality Project

Port Townsend – Jefferson County Public Health will host an open house for residents of the areas surrounding Quilcene Bay and Dabob Bay on Friday, June 17th, 2016 at the Quilcene Community Center (294952 State Highway 101, Quilcene) from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. JCPH staff will share Information about the Quilcene-Dabob Pollution Identification and Correction project to be completed in the area, and will share information about low-cost loan and grant programs to aid in septic system repairs.

Discovery Bay and the Strait of Juan de Fuca Closed Due to Marine Biotoxins

Port Townsend – Shellfish samples from Discovery Bay have been found to contain elevated levels of marine biotoxins that cause Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP). As a result, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has closed Discovery Bay and the Strait of Juan de Fuca for recreational shellfish harvest. Danger signs are being posted at public access points, warning people not to consume shellfish from this area....

2016 Food Safety Awards Presented

Port Townsend, WA -- The 2015 Outstanding Achievement Awards were presented at the April 21, 2015 Jefferson County Board of Health meeting to recognize 21 restaurants, full service food establishments, and their proprietors who demonstrated the highest standards for safe food handling during the past year.
