Stay Informed
There are many ways to stay informed about emergency conditions when they occur in our community. Everyone needs to be aware and be prepared for the unexpected. The resources listed and explained below can provide up-to-date information as it occurs.

Emergency Alert System (EAS)
EAS is the national warning system in the U.S. designed to alert the public of local weather emergencies such as severe weather and flash floods. These alerts are broadcasted to all types of devices and mediums to people within the affected area depending on the severity of the event. There is no sign-up required.

Tsunami Sirens
There are currently 45 All Hazard Alert Broadcast (AHAB) "siren" installations in Washington State with three located in the Port Townsend area. A fourth siren warns our west Jefferson County residents on the Pacific coast. Tsunami sirens are tested every other month on the first Monday of the month at 12:00 noon. Test tones are different than the actual "siren" sound. Click here for more information.
