NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Jefferson County Planning Commission has two expiring positions, one each for District #1 and District #2 representatives. Both have terms beginning in March of 2019 and expiring in March of 2023. District #1 includes the Port Townsend area. District #2 includes eastern Discovery Bay, Tri-Area, Marrowstone Island, northern Oak Bay, and south along Center Road to Highway 104.
The Planning Commission assists the Department of Community Development and prepares recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners. The group provides a forum for public review of land use and planning such as the Comprehensive Plan, zoning designations, policies, and regulations that guide development activities around the county. The group does not review project-specific permits. Recent efforts have addressed these local issues:
- Assisting with the Comprehensive plan update and code amendments;
- Master Planned Resort development recommendations;
- I-502 land use and performance standards;
- Sign regulations; and
- Parcel rezones.
Meetings are typically held the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 5:30 pm in the Tri-Area Community Center located at 10 W. Valley Road, Chimacum.
TO APPLY: Submit a completed online Planning Commission Application as soon as possible. This announcement closes Friday, March 15th. Review of applications will begin immediately thereafter.
