Project Lifesaver
Citizens enrolled in Project Lifesaver wear a small personal transmitter around the wrist or ankle that emits an individualized tracking signal.

Search & Rescue (SAR)
The Search and Rescue Council is made up of individuals who volunteer their time and efforts so that others may live. The council is made up of several different groups with different specialties.

Traffic Safety Programs
Deputies are responsible for enforcing traffic laws, investigating motor vehicle crashes, assisting motorists and educating the public about reducing traffic crashes and injuries.

Volunteers in Police Service Program
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Program enables volunteer citizens to contribute their time and talents to assist the Sheriff's Department with it's law enforcement responsibilities.

Victim Notification
This service allows victims of crime and the general public to obtain the custody status of offenders 24 hours a day and register for alerts when a change in status occurs.

Alarm Permits
Jefferson County has enacted an ordinance that requires automatic and semi-automatic alarm systems be permitted. This currently applies only to alarm owners living in unincorporated Jefferson County.

Cadet Program
The JCSO Cadet Program is a volunteer program administered by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO). The program is designed to give young men and women interested in law enforcement, criminal justice, public safety, and homeland security careers firsthand knowledge of these fields by working side by side with law enforcement officers. All cadets shall be guided by this manual in the performance of their duties as volunteers within the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
