Interstate Compact Agreement for Adult Offender Supervision (ICAOS)
Effective July 1, 2005, certain misdemeanor offenders who desire to move / travel out of state must receive the permission of the sentencing court. Washington State is a member of the ICAOS. This agreement currently covers 49 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
The purpose of the agreement is to facilitate the transfer of offenders from state to state and to provide for a continuity of supervision during that process. The ICAOS website provides general information about the compact.
