Infant feeding, Lactation and/or Breastfeeding support are available to all Jefferson County families of babies and young children who meet the income qualifications for our services. Individual education and support are offered during pregnancy and after a baby's birth to encourage and facilitate successful growth, development, and parenting.
WIC Nutrition Program
The WIC program serves pregnant, breastfeeding and post-partum women and children up to 5 years old. WIC participants receive nutritious food, answers to their questions about nutrition topics: infant/ child feeding and more. WIC participants also receive referrals to useful resources. Breastfeeding women enrolled in the WIC nutrition program are eligible for additional while participating in WIC. The WIC staff can help you find an electric or manual breast pump that meets your needs.
Additional support is available from Dietitians, Nurses, and Health Educators and may include referrals to certified lactation consultants and other community resources.
Starting March 2022, the WIC program is adding a WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor to assist families with lactation education topics and support. Want to learn more? Call 360-385-9432.
