The Climate Action Committee is a joint committee of the City of Port Townsend and Jefferson County. The CAC typically meets on even months (Feb., April, June, Aug., Oct., Dec.) on the second Tuesday of the month from 3-5PM. The public is invited to attend and comment at each of the Climate Action Committee meetings. The meeting location varies but is typically within the City limits. The Climate Action Committee hosted two Zoom meetings to roll out to the public the Greenhouse Gas Inventory Report that was completed last spring. Recordings of the meetings will be posted shortly.

To apply for a Climate Action Committee position:

The County encourages active participation in local government by soliciting interested citizens to serve on various advisory boards and commissions that make recommendations on specific issues or policies to the Board of County Commissioners and the City Council. Committee members serve for a term of 3 years.

The Climate Action Committee is responsible for developing strategies to implement the goals specified in Jefferson County Resolution 44-07/City of Port Townsend Resolution 07-22 via the Climate Action Plan. The plan recommends how to achieve the goal of an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 1990 levels by the year 2050.

Climate Action Plan


The Climate Action Committee is responsible for developing strategies to implement the goals specified in Jefferson County Resolution 44-07/City of Port Townsend Resolution 07-22 via the Climate Action Plan. The plan recommends how to achieve the goal of an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 1990 levels by the year 2050.

The Board of County Commissioners and the City Council adopted the Climate Action Plan on Monday, November 14, 2011.
