Wildfires Impact Jefferson County’s Air Quality


According to the AirNow website, the Port Townsend monitoring station indicates that air quality has deteriorated into the “Unhealthy for Everyone” range.  This means that everyone, especially sensitive groups, should limit time spent outdoors, avoid strenuous activities outdoors, and choose light indoor activities.

The National Weather Service forecast indicates that the smoke may not dissipate until Thursday, so Jefferson County residents are advised to take these additional steps until the smoke clears.

Smoke from wildfires can be particularly dangerous for sensitive groups including people with heart or lung disease, asthma, diabetes, children, especially infants, adults older than 65, pregnant women, and those who have had a stroke.  Additional resources to protect you and your family include:
