April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month in Washington State. Locally and around the state, individuals, youth, communities, schools, and agencies will be taking action to increase awareness about sexual assault and to end sexual violence. 

The 2022 National Crime Victims’ Right Week theme is Rights, Access, Equity, for all victims. This year's theme underscores the importance of helping crime survivors find their justice by enforcing victims' rights, expanding access to services, and ensuring equity and inclusion for all.

The Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office considers the charging and aggressive prosecution of those adult and juvenile offenders in our community who commit sexually motivated or domestic violence criminal acts to be one of the most important criminal justice priorities. 

All victims of crime have certain rights in which they are entitled through the Crime Victims Bill of Rights. Victim & Witness Services in the Prosecutor’s Office work with victims of a crime during the criminal justice process, and coordinate with community partners to connect them with resources.

This week, we honor those impacted by violence by raising awareness of victims’ rights and services, and stand with families, neighbors, friends, and colleagues whose lives have been forever altered by crime.
