Dear Readers, Fall is upon us. That means back to school for many and generally busier times as the days grow shorter. JCPH is looking toward growth this next season on many fronts including staffing, programming, and workplace culture. Pride MonthIn July, JCPH celebrated Pride Month with a booth at the Sound of Pride. Our staff was there to hand out pins, answer questions and support equity, diversity and inclusion in order to improve health outcomes. |

Empowered Teens CoalitionThe Empowered Teens Coalition (ETC), part of the Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative (CPWI), works with the community to create safer spaces to live, work and play. Employees Drew Fechenbach, Holly Gumm, and Lindsay Scalf work with local law enforcement to host Med Take Back Events across the county, twice annually.

Activity Update- In June, JCPH hosted 3 compost classes, led by Environmental Health Specialist, Laura Tucker, where 82 Jefferson County residents learned how to create and maintain a healthy compost system using food and yard waste. This helps keep waste out of landfills, reduces the need for chemical fertilizers and combats climate change. More classes coming 9/27, 9/28 and 10/1: sign up here
- Anna McEnery, Developmental Disability & Behavioral Health Coordinator, helped bring The Job Foundations Program to Jefferson County in 2021. This program assists HS Transition Students that are ages 19-21 in achieving vocation goals through job coaching, personalized action plans and long-term goals. The program helps students identify their individual interests, strengths and challenges in order to connect with the resources necessary to be prepared for employment.
- Recently, JCPH secured $150,000 in new funding from the Washington State Department of Health. This increases the availability of mental healthcare for Jefferson County teens, creating more access in our School Based Health Centers by providing an additional appointment day available to students in each of our clinics.
- Our WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program has distributed approximately $10,000 annually with Jefferson County Farmers Market partnership. This provides fresh local produce to young families in Jefferson County.
